Te Whare Runanga

Carved meeting house

Te Whare Rūnanga is the carved meeting house standing proudly on Waitangi’s upper grounds and is ideally suited as a hire space for important discussions, speeches or workshops.

Te Whare Rūnanga represents the unity of Māori throughout Aotearoa New Zealand, emphasised by the main carving styles of iwi across Aotearoa being reflected in the whare’s designs. This makes Te Whare Rūnanga an ideal meeting house for all New Zealanders, as a place to bring all peoples together for important hui (meetings).

The whare comfortably seats 120 people inside (on traditional wooden benches), or up to 150 with additional outdoor seating. Hire costs are $800 (120 people) and $900 (150 people) respectively.

Delicious onsite

Delicious, convenient catering is available onsite courtesy of Whare Waka Cafe to follow your hui (meeting). Our friendly catering team are happy to meet any dietary requirements and offer a wide selection of kai (food) to choose from. Please note: no food or drink is allowed inside the whare.
