'Our Feathered Friends' Holiday Programme fun

7/10/2020   Our Holiday Programme this week is for the birds!  We’re learning about our unique native manu; some of these beautiful birds are often spotted here at Waitangi Treaty Grounds. We love families to drop in and get crafty together; we’ve been creating manu mobiles, masks, bird-feeders, collages and keyrings. Definitely some future ornithologists among our visitors!  Check out some of our manu activities and also links to give some of them a go at home.

Our Learning Centre was a hive of activity each day with families enjoying getting creative together

We made mobiles out of these cool 3-D birds; thanks to the Department of Conservation for their awesome 3-D native bird templates

Colourful soda bottle bird-feeders to attract manu visitors to your garden. We made a few kinds; check out Recycled bird-feeders

These manu masks were fun to make while learning about native birds. Check out ideas for manu masks

These cute felt kiwi key-rings were fun to make to mark Save the Kiwi month.  View instructions to give it a go at home.

We designed Our Feathered Friends programme to fit in with October being Save the Kiwi month in New Zealand. Here at Waitangi, our conservation efforts have seen the native bird life flourishing in our beautiful natural environment.
