Teacher Resources for Matariki - the Māori New Year
Matariki is both the name of the star cluster and of the season of its first rising, which marks the Māori New Year sometime in June or July each year. It is a time rich in tradition when whānau (family) gathered to remember the ancestors, reflect on the past and plan for the future.
