Summer Holiday pop-up activities

January 4, 2021

Between January 7-28 (Tuesdays and Thursdays) we will set up some crafty creations and traditional tākaro (Māori games) on the grounds. We welcome all families to join in anytime between 11.30am – 1pm. Nau mai haere mai! Read more for full programme details.

Check out our Summer Holiday Pop-up Activities 2021 all enjoyed in our beautiful natural environment overlooking the bay!

Our first activity (Thursday 7 December) is a folded paper waka hourua (double-hulled canoe) to make and decorate; this activity will take place at the waka area where our waka and whakairo (carving) give plenty of inspiration for designs. You can also give it a go from home using these instructions and link to a video tutorial: Waitangi – Waka Hourua instructions

We hope you and your family are enjoying the summer break. Kiwi families are certainly getting out and about; we are so fortunate to still be able to do so. It’s awesome to see so many visiting the Treaty Grounds and appreciating Waitangi’s unique beauty, culture and history. Stay safe and make the most of time with family and friends!
