Whare Waka Café is fully licensed and set in the heart of the Treaty Grounds. The café offers the perfect location to enjoy a coffee or stop for breakfast or lunch during your visit to the grounds. Enjoy a delicious meal from a wide selection of cabinet and a la carte options while you soak up the relaxing setting, surrounded by ferns and native trees and overlooking the waka taua (ceremonial war canoe), across to Paihia and out to the Pacific Ocean.
During the warmer months (October to April), Whare Waka café also offers a highly acclaimed traditional Māori hāngi dinner on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday evenings.

Being fully licensed, Whare Waka Café is a scenic backdrop for a glass of beer or wine on a sunny Northland afternoon. The cafe is open every day from 8am – 4pm in summer, 9am – 3pm in winter.
