Waitangi by Night.
Experience Waitangi like never before with after-hours museum access, a Kiwi barbecue and games on the Treaty Grounds. Beat the crowds and soak up the evening atmosphere at Aotearoa’s most important historic site.
Our two contemporary and interactive museums, Te Kōngahu Museum of Waitangi and Te Rau Aroha will be open exclusively for your exploration, with expert staff on hand to answer questions and explain how the treasured taonga and images were curated.
A gourmet barbecue will be served at Whare Waka Café, with organic and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Whare Waka’s fully licensed bar will be open throughout the evening, offering a range of local and NZ beer, wine and organic juices.
After your meal make your way to the Upper Grounds to enjoy dessert and drinks under the magnificent Pōhutukawa trees, while taking in stunning views over the Bay of Islands. Join in a game of cricket or other activities on the lawn in front of the Treaty House, and take time to reflect on the importance of this special place to all New Zealanders.
